Some months back I was asked by German publishing house, PONS GmbH, to narrate some audiobooks for learners of English. These included two short stories by Roald Dahl, two by Ian Rankin and six of Nick Hornby´s “31 Songs”. The titles go on sale today in Germany under the “Read and Listen” banner, and are pitched at advanced-level learners.
Each pack contains a CD with the English recording of the story, plus a book with the English transcription and a German translation. The tracks were recorded and edited in my home studio and have been mastered onto CD in Germany.
I was also pleased to be able to get two of my friends involved in the project as it progressed. Trish Bertram and Kathy Clugston have also contributed to the series: Trish with Muriel Spark´s “The Portobello Road”, and Kathy with Marian Keyes´s “Twelve Months”.
