Fresh back from holiday last Monday night, this week was one of those weeks that was about getting back up to speed. I also found myself getting over an ear infection, the flu and food poisoning, which all came on within a few days of one another. Not nice.
Nonetheless, and despite being deaf in my left ear (a state of affairs which continued until about 11am on Saturday) I managed to do an audition for my agent on Tuesday for a training course for children with dyslexia. On Wednesday I found myself at the History Channel narrating another episode of Dinosaur Secrets – this one was actually set in the last Ice Age, so was something a little different.
Wednesday night and Friday morning both saw me on newsreading and continuity duties at the BBC World Service, who seemed pleased and relieved to see me back after my holiday and illness, and Friday afternoon found me at QVC voicing some promos and a corporate video. I also took part in another demo of Source-Connect for a potential client on Thursday, and await developments with interest…
Finally, I got asked a couple of times this week for advice on getting into the voiceover business, and decided to turn my long and detailed emails into a series of blog posts for my other website, Gobs on Sticks.
So, not too shabby for a first week back, considering!
