A new website, showcasing a variety of the freelance voiceover talent from across the BBC’s radio and television networks, has just been launched. Called “Auntie’s Voices“, the site is the brainchild of BBC Radio announcers Vaughan Savidge and Zeb Soanes.
The idea is that producers looking for a familiar BBC voice can find the freelance talent all in one place, and the site features clips to make identifying the right voice for the project even easier. Vaughan hopes that once everyone who is eligible has signed up, the site will offer a choice of around forty voices – all of whom can be contacted directly from the site, which is being run as a not-for-profit enterprise. Among those already signed up are familiar voices like Peter Donaldson, David Miles and Kathy Clugston of BBC Radio 4, John Marsh and Ricky Salmon of Radio 2, and Radio 3′s Ian Skelly.
Having worked as an announcer on both the BBC World Service and BBC Radio 7, Mike Cooper is pleased to join the site’s quality selection of reassuring “Gentlemen Voices” and to wish Auntie the very best of luck in her new enterprise!
