This groundbreaking series from History sets out to recreate dinosaur battles from the fossil evidence, using modern paleontological expertise and stunning CGI graphics. “Operation Valkyrie” – History

“Operation Valkyrie” was the plot to assassinate Hitler in July 1944. To coincide with the movie version, starring Tom Cruise, History made this programme featuring archive footage and interviews with the survivors. Blue Tuna asked me to provide the voiceover for this programme. There were plenty of South American names to contend with, as well as the challenge of working on my own without seeing the pictures I was talking about! An example of a finished dry voice track, added to the production later.

From Our Own Correspondent has been running on BBC Radio for over half a century. Until recently, the World Service version of “FOOC”, as it’s affectionately known, was presented by myself and my colleagues on a rotating basis. Here’s a clip from a December 2007 edition.

I’m on the books of BBC Radio 7 for freelance cover. This is the BBC channel which trawls the archive and delivers the best bits of the radio of yesteryear. This job includes scripting my own material as well as reading it, and the house style allows the announcers to inject a lot of personality, so it’s more like presentation than “straight” continuity.
