Mike Cooper narrates “John Candy” and “Henry Winkler” for Bio

London-based Voiceover Artist Mike Cooper has added British narration to two more documentaries for Bio (the Biography Channel) in the UK.

Fondly remembered as the friendly giant who always made us laugh, John Candy starred as some of Hollywood’s most comic characters, before his untimely death in 1994.

The one-hour John Candy biography gets its first airing on 8pm on Sunday 6th December 2009 (repeated Monday 7th December at 9am and 1pm). First transmission dates for the Henry Winkler programme have not yet been announced.

Bio is on Sky 156 and Virgin 242, and you can check out showings of other programmes voiced by Mike Cooper on his TV Schedule page.

Mike Cooper narrates “The Secret World of Fireworks” for National Geographic Channel (UK)

I’ve just been asked to provide the British voiceover narration for National Geographic Channel’s “The Secret World of Fireworks”. We’re recording this Friday, and I’ll post a transmission date when it’s confirmed.

“Secret World of Fireworks explores the closely held secrets, recipes, and techniques from the world of pyrotechnic showmen. National Geographic takes a behind the scenes look into this exclusive world with unique access from Zambelli Internationale of New Castle, Pennsylvania – Americas First Family of Fireworks – along with rocket scientists and chemists from Los Alamos, New Mexico.”

I’ve also been asked to voice another programme: “Redwoods – The Tallest Trees” and will post more information when I get it!

“Sicily’s Mummies”

This morning I provided voiceover narration for a fascinating documentary for History and History HD. “Sicily’s Mummies” follows modern science as it tries to unravel the mysteries behind the preservation of thousands of bodies in the catacombs of the southern Italian island.

“Scattered across the island of Sicily, beneath picturesque churches, are thousands of mummified bodies. And most mysterious of all is one of the last to be enshrined: shes known as the sleeping beauty Rosalia Lombardo– a child barely two years old when she died nearly a century ago, somehow her corpse remains flawlessly preserved.

Now, for the first time, a scientific team of mummy hunters is on the case, unearthing hundreds of Sicily’s miraculous dead, exploring how this baffling culture of mummification could operate within the Catholic Church itself, and finally, revealing the secret formula behind Rosalias perfect preservation.”

A National Geographic production, this one-hour special will actually air on History and History HD later in November.

“7 Signs of the Apocalypse”

I’ve just provided the British voiceover narration for a documentary for History HD called “7 Signs of the Apocalypse”.

“War, famine, plague… According to the Book of Revelation in the Bible, these are three of the four horsemen of a coming apocalypse. The fourth? The anti-Christ, in human form, walking somewhere among us.

Could this 2,000-year-old prophecy actually come true? And could it be about to happen today? In this fascinating special, HISTORY decodes the ancient prophecy, which actually consists of seven signs within seven signs within seven more signs, and examines whether any of them could be linked to actual or potential occurrences today.

What kinds of occurrences? Asteroids, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, red tides, global warming and plagues. We also explore what would happen if the seven-signs prophecy were to unfold right now.

It’s fascinating. It’s scary. It’s riveting.

And a word of warning: The prophecy ends with Armageddon, the final battle between good and evil.”

The two-hour special is currently scheduled to air in December on History and History HD.
